Additional information

Within 5 days of receiving the application, the Agency should verify its compliance with the requirements prescribed by law and define filing date.

The Agency registers the application after defining the filing date of the application, giving it a serial number, and entering the information provided in the application into the trademark application database, and carries out preliminary examination of the application within 10 business days after defining the date of filing the application by the Agency.

Based on preliminary examination the Agency makes a decision to publish the application and carry out substantive examination, which is sent to the applicant within 3 business days after making that decision. As a result the applicant receives the decision on publishing the application and carrying out substantive examination, filing date and serial number of the application.

During the preliminary examination, the Agency mostly examines the applicant's personal and contact information, information and attached documents concerning the trademark, correct classification of goods and services, and validity of paid state duties.

At any stage of the examination of an application, the applicant may submit a request on making changes in the application only by amending the applicant's name or forename, surname and/or address, as well as if there is a necessity to clarify the wording, provided that such amendments shall not substantially change the image of the claimed mark and the list of goods and/or services for which an application was filed.
